The recent death of a woman in Kerala, due to suspected Oleander poisoning, has brought the toxic plants into the spotlight. Following this incident, two Devaswom boards in Kerala have prohibited the use of Nerium oleander flowers & leaves during temple ceremonies. Here, I discuss various poisonous plants that are commonly found in our surroundings and advocate for increased public education about these plants rather than imposing outright prohibitions.
