This project aims to rejuvenate Baiyappanahalli Lake, a critical ecological and community asset. Nestled in Bengaluru’s peri-urban landscape, the lake is a sanctuary for a diverse range of plants and animals. It also holds immense significance for the surrounding community, supporting their cultural practices, livelihoods, and connection to nature.

This initiative adopts a holistic and forward-looking approach to lake restoration, combining ecological revival, sustainable water management, thoughtful landscape design, and active community participation. By implementing nature-based solutions and green infrastructure, we aim to create a self-sustaining system that not only enhances the lake’s health but also strengthens its role in addressing broader challenges like water scarcity and biodiversity loss.

Core Activities Include:

  • Conducting thorough studies to understand the ecological, hydrological, and social dynamics, ensuring restoration efforts are well-informed and targeted.
  • Using nature-based solutions to improve water quality, reduce pollution, and promote the growth of native plant and animal species.
  • Designing landscapes that restore ecological balance while offering recreational and educational spaces for the community.
  • Partnering with local residents to build a sense of ownership and ensure the long-term stewardship of the lake.

Through these efforts, we aim to create a living model of sustainable lake restoration that addresses pressing urban challenges. By enhancing biodiversity, improving water resources, and supporting cultural and socio-economic activities, Baiyappanahalli Lake will evolve into a thriving ecological and social hub.
