Shruti Mokashi is a postdoctoral research associate at ATREE. Her work is focused on community forest resource management, especially the recognition of Community forest resource (CFR) rights under the FRA, 2006 and implementation of on-ground post-CFR processes in the Central Indian states. She has a PhD from SUNY College of Environmental Science & Forestry, where her dissertation examined the evolving perceptions and relationships of local communities with their sacred forests in western India. Her research interests are in the areas of community-based conservation, sacred natural sites, ethics and community-based research, and traditional ecological knowledge.
