Role Overview:

The Senior Research Associate will play a key role in driving research initiatives under the Centre for Exchange for Learning between ATREE and INR. This position involves designing and conducting research, synthesizing learnings, and facilitating knowledge exchange between institutions. The ideal candidate will have strong analytical skills, experience in interdisciplinary research, and a passion for conservation, sustainability, and policy-driven impact.

Location: Field locations in Maharashtra/ Karnataka/ Andhra Pradesh

Responsibilities

Lead research efforts aligned with the objectives of the Centre, focusing on land-use changes.
Analyze data, synthesize insights, and contribute to high-quality research outputs, including reports, policy briefs, and peer-reviewed publications.
Engage with stakeholders, including government agencies, local communities, and academic institutions, to translate research into actionable recommendations.
Represent the Centre in conferences, workshops, and networking events to disseminate research findings.

Qualifications

A PhD or Master’s degree in environmental science, ecology or a related field.
5+ years of research experience in conservation, natural resource management, sustainable development, or related domains.
Proficiency in Hindi/Telugu/Marathi.
Strong quantitative research skills, with experience in fieldwork, data analysis, and research design.
A track record of published research in peer-reviewed journals or policy reports.
Excellent writing and communication skills to engage both academic and non-academic audiences.
Ability to collaborate across institutions and work in an interdisciplinary research environment.

Preferred Qualifications:

Experience working with government agencies or NGOs on policy-relevant research.
Familiarity with participatory research methods and community-based conservation approaches
