The Ashoka Trust for Research in Ecology and the Environment (www.atree.org) is one of South Asia’s leading conservation and environmental research organizations. ATREE’s Centre for Policy Design (CPD) is involved with undertaking projects to create exemplars and best practices for improved land management. One of the key initiatives of the CPD aims to restore Grasslands for Biodiversity Conservation, Sustainable Livelihoods and Climate Mitigation in Maharashtra.
As a part of this initiative, we are initiating a study to examine the role of fire and grazing as determinants of plant community structure of arid/semi-arid savanna grassland ecosystems in Maharashtra. We are looking to recruit a Research Associate to conduct this study.
Salary: Salary and benefits will be commensurate with qualifications and experience, ranging from Rs.40,000 to Rs.55,000 per month.
Duration of appointment: The appointment will be for an initial period of 1 year, extendable to 2 years depending upon performance.
Field posting: The position will involve extensive stay at project locations in Pune, Solapur and/or Ahmednagar districts of Maharashtra for field experiment and data collection.
The candidate will closely work with field team of CPD, ATREE in Maharashtra and under the supervision of Dr Abi Vanak (Director, CPD, ATREE), Anuja Malhotra (Policy Manager, CPD) and Dr Atul Joshi (Assistant Professor, FLAME University).
