ATREE invites applications for the position of Project Manager to lead and implement biodiversity conservation initiatives in the Eastern Himalayan Region, specifically in Arunachal Pradesh. This position will focus on scoping and prioritizing biodiversity-rich areas for conservation, monitoring bioresources and forests, addressing proximate and underlying threats by engaging local communities, and building capacities for conservation activities beyond Protected Areas.
The project entitled “Conserving Biodiversity, Restoring Landscapes and Fostering Human Well-being in the Indian Himalayan Region” is a part of larger program The Himalaya Initiative (THI) at ATREE, which aims to address biodiversity loss and landscape degradation in the Indian Himalayan Region (IHR) through community-driven conservation, restoration of degraded landscapes, invasive species management, and promotion of biodiversity-based livelihoods, including sustainable agriculture.
Role Overview
The Project Manager will be based in Pasighat, Arunachal Pradesh, with regular travel to field sites across the Eastern Himalayan region and ATREE’s headquarters in Bangalore. The role involves managing multiple projects, coordinating with diverse stakeholders, and ensuring effective implementation of conservation interventions.
Working Relationships
Internal (ATREE): Collaborate with the Project Lead, AMP-Himalaya project teams, THI Director, Sr Project Manager of AMP-Himalaya and administrative teams.
External: Liaise with government officials, donors, NGOs, academics, researchers, and community stakeholders.
