Sagna A. is a botanist with a passion for unravelling the intricate stories of plants, ecosystems, and the wisdom of indigenous communities. Holding a PhD in Botany from Mahatma Gandhi University, she specializes in seed biology, plant propagation, and the conservation of Kerala’s verdant forests. Her journey bridges science and tradition, from developing antiviral therapies to documenting the ancestral knowledge of Wayanad’s tribes.
She has worked with esteemed institutions like the Jawaharlal Nehru Tropical Botanic Garden and Research Institute, Trivandrum, and the M. S. Swaminathan Research Foundation- – Community Agrobiodiversity Centre, Wayanad. Also, as a resource for Kerala’s Biodiversity and Pollution Control Boards, Sagna has contributed to flood impact assessments and explored paleo botanical mysteries along with a team of landscape archaeology experts. Her work harmonizes exploration and preservation, whether in field research, international collaborations, or nurturing young minds through outreach programs.
