Description

The Communications Associate will play a pivotal role in shaping and amplifying the centre’s voice through impactful storytelling, media engagement, and digital strategies. This role involves working closely with internal teams, external stakeholders, and media to communicate research outcomes, project updates, and key messages to diverse audiences.

Responsibilities

Key Responsibilities

  1. Content Development
    • Write, edit, and manage high-quality content for press releases, reports, newsletters, website, social media, and other communication platforms.
    • Collaborate with researchers and project teams to translate complex technical concepts into accessible and compelling narratives.
    • Develop scripts, presentations, and key messages for internal and external communication.
  2. Media Engagement
    • Build and maintain relationships with journalists, editors, and media outlets to secure coverage for the centre’s work.
    • Monitor media trends, craft media pitches, and respond to press inquiries.
    • Maintain a media contact database and regularly update press kits.
  3. Digital Strategy & Social Media
    • Create and implement a digital communications calendar across social media platforms, ensuring consistent and engaging messaging.
    • Support the management of multimedia content, including photos, videos, and infographics.
  4. Internal and External Communications
    • Support internal teams with communication materials for workshops, events, and stakeholder meetings.
    • Assist in creating outreach materials, including brochures, factsheets, and annual reports.
    • Help organize and promote events, webinars, and conferences.
  5. Brand Consistency
    • Ensure all communication materials align with ATREE’s branding guidelines and voice.
    • Support visual and graphic design requirements for key publications and marketing collateral.

Qualifications

  • Masters degree in Communications, Journalism, Marketing, Environmental Studies, Social Sciences, or related field.
  • At least 3 years of experience in communications, public relations, or content development, preferably in a research, non-profit, or an environment-focused organization.
  • Excellent command over English.
  • Basic design skills (using Canva/Adobe tools)
  • Familiarity with policy and environmental issues will be a strong advantage.
