Senior Communications Officer

Ashoka Trust for Research in Ecology and the Environment (ATREE), a leading conservation organization in South Asia, is looking for a Senior Communications Officer.

Location: Bangalore.
Responsibilities: The job requires conceptualization skills, a flair for writing, operational skills in design and print production, ability to meet deadlines and liaising with a number of stakeholders from donors to government agencies, civil society organizations, academia and the lay public. The Senior Communications Officer will:

  • Chart out a media and content plan along with the communications team.
  • Support the design and delivery of strategic communications documentation and films for ATREE
  • Keep abreast of developments relevant to ATREE's vision, strategy and objectives and appropriately communicate these to the communications team.
  • Oversee content generation in coordination with ATREE's research and outreach teams, including news stories, social media posts, OpEds, films etc.
  • Handle end-to-end production of communication material.
  • Handle event coordination for institutional events.
  • Plan and manage content for the website; including stories, video and photo essays and coordinate with the website designer/manager to ensure that it is up to date.


  • Graduate degree /diploma in Communications / Media / Public Relations.
  • At least 5 years of professional experience in the field of media and communications.
  • Knowledge of and experience with media production, communication, and dissemination techniques and methods. Ability to represent the organisation in public and to media outlets.
  • Proficiency in English, extensive experience in copywriting and proofreading within a communications role.
  • Interest in science, environment, development and public policy .
  • Demonstrated ability to organise work, manage time, determine priorities and meet deadlines.

Remuneration: will be in accordance with qualifications and experience.
