Openings for a Senior Research Fellow and Junior Research Fellow in a DST funded project on
“Modeling the distribution of globally important invasive plant species"

Ashoka Trust for Research in Ecology and the Environment (ATREE) is looking for suitable candidates for JRF and SRF position for the project on, “Modeling the distribution of globally important invasive plant species”, to be implemented in Bangalore. This project, which has been funded by DST, will focus on mapping and tracing the distribution of globally invasive plant species. Specifically, the project seeks to investigate the spread of invasive plant species using species distribution models. Species distribution models would also be used to predict the potential risk and extent of spread of these invasive species particularly in India.

Essential qualifications
JRF: M.Sc (in any branch of Life Science) with NET qualification from a reputed university, or M.Tech (in Biotechnology, Environmental Sciences).

SRF: M.Sc (in any branch of Life Science) with NET qualification from a reputed university, or M.Tech (in Biotechnology, Environmental Sciences). Two to three years of research experience backed up with research publications. He/She should be well versed with niche modeling tools, data analysis and in writing reports and should have good interpersonal and communication skills to work in a team.

Candidates should be motivated to work on invasive species and should be prepared to carry out the necessary fieldwork/ Visit to Herbaria’s across the country.
