Coordinator: Academy for Conservation Science and Sustainability Studies

Ashoka Trust for Research in Ecology and the Environment (ATREE) is looking for a Coordinator for the Academy for Conservation Science and Sustainability Studies.

ATREE is one of South Asia's leading conservation and sustainable development research organizations with a strong interdisciplinary emphasis. The Academy hosts the PhD programme which is recognized by Manipal University and is one of the few programmes in India that providesnatural science, social science and interdisciplinary training to conduct research on biodiversity conservation and sustainable development. The academy also conducts certificate courses and other outreach activities in a range of thematic areas.

ATREE’s research covers the broad themes of environment, development, and biodiversity conservation. Thematic areas include: conservation biology and planning; forest governance and livelihoods; ecosystem functions and services; hydrology and water resources; and development and environmental change.

The Coordinator will be expected to manage the PhD programme and other courses offered by the Academy. The Coordinator will, with the assistance of the Academic Committee, develop and review courses, and oversee the implementation of the programme. The Coordinator will be expected to teach and assist in teaching courses in their area of specialization, as well as provide mentorship to students.

The candidate must have a PhD in ecology, environmental sciences, development studies, or related fields. The candidate must possess good organizational ability and have excellent oral and written communication skills.
