  1. Assistant/Associate Director - Finance BangaloreGo Top

    ATREE is looking for a dynamic candidate with at least 10 years experience in finance in the NGO sector with at least 2-3 years in a leadership position. S/he should have an advanced finance degree and/or MBA from a reputed university. S/he will be the functional head for finance at ATREE. S/he will lead a team of 6 members including an accounts and finance manager. We are looking for a person who will continue to strengthen ATREE’s tradition of the highest quality of financial accountability and governance.

    1-year Research Assignment on `eco-scaping’ a Corporate campus

    We are looking for a person passionate about nature, biodiversity, and conservation. S/he will be expected to coordinate a action-research project to enrich a Bangalore-based WIPRO campus with local biodiversity, build awareness within WIPRO, and develop learning resources from the initiative. You will be working with a team of ATREE specialists and WIPRO facilities staff in eco-scaping their campus. What is ecoscaping? – enhancing the ecology of the campus. If you have a flare for writing, are organized, communicate well, have a deep interest in biology you are the right person for the job. It is a 1-year assignment and will entail some travel within Bangalore city. A basic degree in ecology, biology, environment or related disciplines would be preferred, if not you should at least have a demonstrated interest in these subjects and their applications in the ecology domain. This assignment offers a lot of opportunity for learning and research. We will fill this position as soon as we find a suitable candidate.     Foundation for Ecological Security is looking for suitable candidates for Research positions in an adhoc project "Insect inventorying in Deccan Forest and Farm Landscapes". The study sites are in Kadiri watershed and Sadhukonda Reserve Forest in Andhra Pradesh. The laboratory work will be done through the Entomology lab at ATREE, Bangalore. The nature of the work includes field sampling, collections management, identification using dichotomous keys, ecological data analysis and writing of research papers and reports.

    Qualifications: A good aptitude to study insects and preferably a Masters degree in Zoology/Agriculture/Ecology/Forestry. Candidates with hands on experience in identifying insects at least to family level are preferred. The candidate must have effective interpersonal skills and ability to work independently in' the field (supporting staff will be provided). He/ she should be willing to work in tough field conditions, if the project demands.

    Ashoka Trust for Research in Ecology and the Environment (ATREE) is a research organization with a focus on the application of science in conservation of nature, management of natural resources and sustainable development. It is fast emerging as one of South Asia's leading conservation, environment and development organizations with branches in Delhi and Darjeeling and field offices in several states.

    Requirements and responsibilities: 5-7 years experience in a relevant field with suitable qualifications. We are looking for a dynamic self-motivated person to implement our fund raising strategy at ATREE. The candidate will work closely with the President and Director in exploring and translating funding opportunities into grants for the institution. Have a vision for fund raising in the non-profit world and identify with ATREE's mission. Should necessarily be a good communicator, with excellent writing and interpersonal skills. Persons having experience in writing large institutional grants would be preferred. The position will be located either in Bangalore or Delhi.

  5. Short-term positions in Environmental Education – Bangalore & New DelhiGo Top

    We are looking for two dynamic young people who will network with schools in Bangalore and Delhi to coordinate and implement the T. N. Khoshoo Ecology and environment award for schools 2011. Four awards will be given, two in Bangalore and two in Delhi. Two of them will be for Kannada and Hindi medium schools. We are looking for someone to join immediately. This is a 6-10 month assignment. We are looking for someone who has good written and oral communication skills and has experience working with schools in either city. Working knowledge of Kannada is necessary for the Bangalore position and Hindi for the Delhi position.
